Dad's Favorite Apple Pie
Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, mom would prepare two pies the day before to enjoy with the holiday family meal: Pumpkin and Apple. Dad's go-to was always a healthy slice of Apple pie. Of course, usually followed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to help it go down!

- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Combine white sugar, all-purpose flour, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Add granny smith apples and mix to coat and combine.
- Line 9 inch deep pie dish with pie crust and fill with the apple mixture.
- Dot the top of the apple mixture with small pieces of unsalted butter.
- Lay on the top crust and pinch the seam to seal all the way around.
- Use a knife to make 6 slits in the top of the crust in order to vent steam.
- Use your fingers to rub the milk around the some on the crust and.then sprinkle some white sugar on top of the crust.
- Place a large piece of aluminum foil on the oven rack it to collect any sugary mixture that might bubble over.
- Place pie dish on-top of the aluminum foil and bake for 50 minutes.
- Remove and allow to cool before serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
