While this spice can be readily found in the specialty spice section, nothing compares to the homemade version. Freshly grinding the toasted spices makes a subtle but important addition when used.

- In a sauté pan, heat all ingredients over medium-high heat.
- Stir frequently and remove from heat once fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Place all ingredients in an electric spice mill or mortar and pestle and grind to a fine powder.
- Store in an airtight jar.
